Installation Guidance

Adhesive Bonding

The nosing can be securely bonded using polyurethane construction adhesive or MS polymer adhesive, both providing a strong, flexible, and weather‑resistant bond suitable for GRP, timber, concrete, and metal substrates.

Application steps:

  1. Clean the surface thoroughly with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol).
  2. Apply adhesive evenly across the underside.
  3. Position the nosing and press firmly.
  4. Allow 24–48 hours for full curing before heavy use.

Mechanical Fixing (Strongly Recommended)

Even when adhesive is used, mechanical fixing is strongly recommended. Installing at least one fixing on each end of the profile provides additional security, prevents edge‑lift, and ensures long‑term stability — especially on outdoor timber or uneven surfaces.

Using both adhesive and fixings delivers a superior bond, reduces movement caused by temperature changes, and maintains a firm hold under regular foot traffic.

Usage Classification

This GRP stair nosing is designed for domestic and light‑commercial applications. It is not intended for heavy‑duty industrial environments, high‑impact areas, or locations requiring certified industrial stair nosings.

Why Choose GRP?

GRP offers excellent long‑term performance thanks to its non‑corrosive, non‑conductive, and lightweight properties. It is ideal for outdoor environments and areas exposed to moisture. The white colour provides a clean, modern appearance that blends naturally with most surroundings, making it a popular choice for homes, patios, residential entrances, and small business premises.
